A Ceremony That Celebrates Life

We celebrate so many things – why not the birth of a child?

Welcoming a little person into life is a wonderful task. Many parents who are not (or no longer) religious still want to celebrate the arrival of their child with dignity and meaning – with a ritual that matches their values. A baby welcoming ceremony fills exactly this gap: it gives the moment the significance it deserves, without religious requirements. In the English-speaking world you may know it as a naming ceremony or baby blessing – secular, free and entirely yours.

The celebration can take place shortly after birth, or later – once your small or large family has had time to grow into each other. Often, godparents (or “guide-parents”) are appointed and a small symbolic ritual is performed. You as parents decide freely and individually what the ceremony should include.

A welcoming ceremony is also the perfect occasion to introduce the new family member to friends and family – and to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who has given you support and stability.
